I, Ashiq Ameer, am graduated from Karpagam Academy of Higher Education, one of the top colleges in Coimbatore with a bachelor’s degree in Architecture in 2016. Stepping foot in the institution, where I learnt the best part about myself as a human being, proved to be the first right step in my career. The college has made a lot of difference in me and the professors at Karpagam Architecture, one of the top Architecture colleges in Coimbatore provided an experiential learning to the students. Interning at two distinctively vibrant firms – Qatar Design Consortium (QDC) in Doha, Qatar and Ar. K. C George Associates in Cochin, Kerala – were my baby steps in the field of architecture as I got to experience and witness a variety of projects while undertaking challenging responsibilities. A year’s work experience as an architect at Manhal International Engineering, Qatar kick-started my career, which I believe is the best I could have asked for, and I am eternally grateful for it.
Having always been a rover, I later decided to follow my instincts to prove – as well as explore – myself by pursuing my dire desire to become an actor. By God’s grace, paired with undying determination, a year and a half down the line, I handled lead roles in two different films, namely ‘E – The Movie’ (March 2018) and ‘Oridathumillaathoridam’ (September 2018), which gave me a new perspective towards life. I then went on to try my hands in music, singing and some of my other passions. Karpagam Architecture, one of the best colleges of Architecture in Coimbatore played a vital role in escalating my interests other than education also. Following a short sabbatical, in January 2019, I joined Al Sadeel Trading & Contracting, Qatar as a junior architect before being soon promoted as an architect-cum-project coordinator.
Having gained diverse experience in the field, combined with vigorous team effort, we are now set to take the next step in enhancing the standards and expanding our company. Although a lot has happened since I stepped out of Karpagam Architecture, one of the best colleges of Architecture in India, I look back at those five years in the institution as the period that laid foundations to who I am today – whether it be a striving architect or a curious gipsy. I will never forget whatever I have learnt from the institution, both professionally and personally. I am hereby perpetually thankful to the Almighty.
